All About APPSC Group 1

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission(APPSC) is the state government-owned organization that monitors various recruitment processes for the affiliated sectors. It releases various job notifications and hires suitable aspirants for various designations based on their merit. APPSC announces the official notifications for Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 posts annually. APPSC has released Group 1 Recruitment 2019 notification for 169 posts. Applications are invited online for recruitment to the posts falling under Group-I Services for a total of 44 CF and 125 Fresh vacancies. The proforma application are available on Commission’s Website which is https://psc.ap.gov.in from 07/01/2019 to 28/01/2019. The last date for fee payment is up to 11:59 midnight of 27/01/2019. Tentatively the Preliminary Examination(Objective Type) is likely to be held on 10/03/2019 in offline mode and the Main examination(Conventional type) will be held between 10/06/2019 to 22/06/2019. Being competitive in nature, these exams demand acquiring certain set of skills which cannot be achieved by just traditional methodology of studying. Eligibility for APPSC Group 1

● Nationality: A Candidate must be an Indian Citizen.

● Candidate’s age limit is between 18 to 42 years with relaxations of

  • i) 5 years age relaxation for SC/ST and BCs Candidates
  • ii) 10 years age relaxation for Physically Handicapped (PH) Candidates.
  • iii) 3 years age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen (3 years & length of service rendered in the armed forces).
  • iv) 3 years age relaxation for N.C.C (who have worked as Instructor in N.C.C)
  • v) 5 years age relaxation for A.P. State Government Employees (Employees of APSEB, APSRTC, Corporations, Municipalities etc. are not eligible)
  • vi) 3 years age relaxation for Retrenched temporary employees in the State Census Department with a minimum service of 6 months.

● Educational qualification:

A Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University in India established or incorporated by or under Central Act, Provincial Act, State Act or an Institution recognized by the U.G.C. or an equivalent qualification.

● For specific profiles preference is given to those who possess added qualifications like a Postgraduate Degree in Law or Social Work with specialization in Labour Welfare and Personnel Management/ Industrial Labour Relations from a recognized University or Institution.

APPSC Group 1 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

APPSC Group 1 Exam is Conducted in 3 Stages. Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Group 1 exam pattern details are given below:

1) APPSC Group 1 PrelimsExamination (Objective paper)
The preliminary exam is a screening test which is conducted to shortlist the candidates for the next stage of examination. The exam consists of one objective type paper. The subjects are General Studies & Mental Ability having 150 questions carrying 150 marks within a duration of 2½ Hours.

2) Main Examination (Conventional Type)
Candidates who qualified in preliminary examination will qualify for second stage which contains five papers in conventional type. The General English paper is of qualifying one and its marks are not counted for final ranking. All the question papers except General English may be answered either in English or Telugu or Urdu chosen by the candidate. The subjects for main are General Essay, History & Cultural heritage of India with emphasis on 20th century history of India, History of various social and cultural movements in Andhra Pradesh, General overview of the Indian Constitution, Planning in India & Indian Economy, Land Reforms and social changes in Andhra Pradesh after independence, Andhra Pradesh’s Economy, The role and impact of Science & Technology in the development of India with emphasis on the applied aspects, General awareness with the modern trends in life sciences, Development and environmental problems, Data appreciation and interpretation, Problem solving. The time duration is 3 hours. 

3) Interview/Oral Test
Candidates who finally qualified the Main exams will be called for Interview which carries 75 marks. In this Interview, the board will test the candidate’s attitude and decision making skills.
