Lakhs of aspirants from around the country take the JEE (Advanced) exam of which a selected few manage to secure admission. The Indian Institutes of Technology conducts IIT JEE exam for IIT seats in India all over which are the most prestigious and top engineering institutes in the country. As of 2019, there are 23 IITs in India and the total number of seats for UG Programmes are 11279. The MHRD released ranking for IIT college, across the country on parameters broadly consisting of Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and finally Perception.This year only 16 of 23 IITs participated in these NIRF ranking. There are total 23 IIT's across now India and is governed by Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The IITs offer courses at their Kharagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Madras, Roorkee campuses and also at the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi and Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. From the year 2008, 8 new IITs have been set up across the country by the Union HRD Ministry. These new IITs are located in Jodhpur, Patna, Mandi, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad), Indore, Rupnagar, Gandhinagar.
