About IBPS RBI exams


Reserve Bank of India Exam known as RBI Exam is conducted by the Apex bank i.e. Reserve Bank of India Service Board, Mumbai for selection and appointment of RBI GRADE– A/B Officers. The Officers post in Reserve Bank of India is a highly-esteemed government job in India. For recruitment into the posts, Reserve Bank of India conducts the RBI Exam annually, drawing participation from lakhs of students. Besides working in a reputed role with the central bank of the country, the numerous perks offered to a RBI Officer makes it the most sought-after job among a large number of students opting for banking profession. The work profile demands the candidate to be well versed with the economic state of the country in terms of inflation rate, deflation, GDP growth, GNP, etc.The job involves:

  • Design Guidelines for various PSB's (Public Sector Banks)
  • Responsibility to manage certain Government & Central Bank accounts.
  • Making sure that the circulation of coins & currencies in the system works smoothly and properly.
  • The revised Salary Structure is between Rs. 35150 and 62400. Apart from this other attractive perks and allowances associated with it are RBI residence/quarter facility, fuel allowance, annual medical allowance, monthly maid Allowance, LTC/LFC Tour Allowance, cheaper loans for employees.

    RBI Exam Pattern & Syllabus

    RBI Grade A/B Officers exam consists of the following two steps selection process.

    First Step: Objective Type

    The Objective type assessment consists of:

    • Reasoning
    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Comp Lit/English
    • General Awareness.
    Second Step: Descriptive Type

    Only after successful completion of Objective test , the candidate gets the opportunity to attempt this step. The Examination will consist of three descriptive type papers based on English, Economics, Social Issues, Finance and Management. Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on the aggregate marks obtained only so far. The minimum cut off mark is decided by the board in relation to the number of vacancies.

    Third Step: GD and Interview

    Qualifying candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview for the final selection to the post of RBI grade officers.

    Note: Candidates may answer the Interview either in Hindi or English at their option. Final selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in regard to their written exam as well as Interview.
