Xavier Aptitude Test(XAT) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to prestigious MBA/PGDM programmes. Apart from XLRI and 10 other members, over 700 B-schools accept XAT scores for admission to their post graduate management programmes. XAT will be conducted on first Sunday of January every year in online mode from 10am to 1pm at various test centres across 46 Indian cities. This year, XLRI, Jamshedpur has introduced a major change in the XAT 2019 exam pattern. From now onwards, the question paper will not have Essay Writing section. Eligibility criteria for XAT
XAT exam pattern has objective(multiple choice questions) questions. The exam has four sections - Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Ability, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Ability and General Knowledge. The XAT pattern has undergone some major changes iin 2019. The duration has been reduced from 3.5 hours to 3 hours, and the essay writing section has been cancelled this year onwards. The number of question in each section keeps changing every year. Each question carries 1 mark. For every correct answer, 1 mark will be awarded and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Unattended questions beyond 8 will also result in negative marking of 0.05 marks per question. When a candidate appears for GD and PI rounds, his/her communication skills, self-confidence, interaction skills are being assessed. Past academic scores, work experience, XAT score will be considered along with the performance in XAT selection rounds for the final admission.
